Terminal T1 hosts 3 airlines. You'll find 9 dining options, 3 lounges, 5 shops here.
100% domestic traffic runs through Terminal 1 at TRV
Every IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Air India domestic flight at Thiruvananthapuram uses Terminal 1, in a separate building from international Terminal 2. The layout is compact and older, with short walking distances between check-in, security, and the gates. If you land at T1 and connect to an international flight from T2, plan at least 30–40 minutes to shift terminals and clear formalities.
Layout and ground side basics
Terminal 1 sits on its own side of the airport, signed as “T1 Domestic” on approach roads. Check-in counters for IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Air India line the ground floor, and security for departures is just a short walk beyond them. There are basic seating areas pre-security, but most food and shops worth using sit after security, closer to the gates.
Food and drink after security
KFC and Subway anchor the main food cluster airside in T1, with typical fast-food pricing in the ₹250–₹450 range for a meal. Cafe Coffee Day and Brewberrys both sit near the departure seating, handy for a quick espresso or cappuccino before boarding. If you want something heavier, MRA Restaurant and Dosa Express serve South Indian plates and dosas near the central concourse, so you can finish a meal and still be at the gate in under five minutes.
Coffee, tea, and quick snacks
Indian Coffee House inside T1 is the old-school option, with filter coffee and basic snacks priced well under ₹150. Tea Trail and the small Juice Bar are close to the same stretch of seating, offering chai, bottled drinks, and fresh juices. For early morning flights before 08:00, these counters are usually the first to open, so they’re your best bet for a quick bite when others still have shutters down.
Lounges: Adani, Bird, and Executive
Three lounges operate in Terminal 1: Adani Lounge, Bird Lounge, and an Executive Lounge, all located airside past security. Access typically runs on card programs and airline contracts, so check if your IndiGo, SpiceJet, or Air India ticket or credit card lists Adani or Bird as a partner. Expect standard lounge offerings like buffet snacks, soft drinks, and Wi‑Fi; seats can fill up in the evening bank of departures between 18:00 and 21:00.
Shops and last‑minute buys
Relay in T1 stocks magazines, snacks, and bottled water directly opposite some of the domestic gates, so you can grab something and board within minutes. Khadi India sells textiles and small handicrafts if you want a locally made kurta or souvenir before flying out. Croma Zip, Mobile Store, and Essentials cover cables, chargers, SIM accessories, and basic toiletries, useful if something died or was forgotten in your hotel room.
Security, boarding, and one final tip
Security in Terminal 1 usually moves faster than in T2, but lines can spike to 20–30 minutes around morning departures from IndiGo and Air India. Boarding for domestic flights often starts about 30 minutes before departure, with some stands using buses instead of aerobridges. Practical move: eat and charge your devices right after clearing security, then sit near your assigned gate so you can hear boarding calls over the sometimes muffled PA system.
