Masala dosa and filter coffee before security in T1
Indian Coffee House sits landside in Terminal T1 at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, so you can eat here even if you are just dropping someone off. It is in the older terminal used mainly for domestic flights, and the dining room looks like a classic South Indian canteen rather than a glossy airport franchise. Expect formica tables, fast turnover, and a lot of locals grabbing a quick bite before heading to check-in counters for early IndiGo and Air India flights.
Food is straightforward South Indian vegetarian with a few snacks. A plain masala dosa usually comes in under ₹80, idli and vada plates hover around ₹50–₹70, and filter coffee is cheap enough that two rounds barely cross ₹60. Service is quick; you can sit down, order a dosa and coffee, eat, and be out in 20–25 minutes, which works if you want a real meal before stepping into the security queue for T1’s morning departures.
The move here is simple: dosa, vada, or chapati with curry, then a filter coffee to finish. Portions are modest but filling, and spice level runs medium by Kerala standards. There is usually enough seating for 30–40 people, but during the 6:00–9:00 flight bank the tables turn constantly, so be ready to share space. If you just want something light before a short hop to Kochi or Bengaluru, idli with sambar and one coffee will keep you under ₹150.
There are usually better regional options airside in T2 for international passengers, but if your international flight still departs from T1 and you have checked in early, this is one of the few sit-down spots before security. Cards may not always work reliably here, so have at least ₹200–₹300 in cash per person. Plan to finish your meal at least 45 minutes before your domestic departure so you can clear T1 security without rushing.
