Gate-side in T1, RossoSapore is your pizza-and-pasta stop
In Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport’s T1, RossoSapore sits airside after security, so you can eat within sight of the gates before boarding. It’s a fast-casual counter setup: order at the till, grab a tray, and sit at the shared tables clustered near other food outlets. Expect typical airport background noise from early morning departures through the evening, with lines peaking around the 07:00–09:00 rush and again before late-afternoon flights.
Pizza by the slice is the main draw here, with classic margherita usually the cheapest option and daily specials costing a bit more. You’ll also see basic pasta dishes like penne al pomodoro or ragù, plus simple panini. Prices land squarely in airport territory: think around €6–€9 for a generous slice and €10–€14 for a hot main, with bottled water and soft drinks pushing a standard meal into the mid-teens.
Quality skews better than generic heat-lamp fare, but this is still a quick-service chain inside BLQ, not a sit-down trattoria in the city. Freshly baked slices that have just come out of the oven are noticeably better than ones sitting 15+ minutes, so it’s worth asking what’s just been made. Pasta holds up fine if it hasn’t been resting too long on the line; anything looking dried around the edges is worth skipping.
Service is efficient but transactional, tuned to get people fed and back to gate A or B within 20–30 minutes. Staff handle card payments quickly, and contactless tap works with major issuers like Visa and Mastercard. If you’re tight on time, you can eat in under 15 minutes with a single slice and drink, but allow extra if you want a hot pasta or multiple pizzas reheated.
Tip: check the pizza trays before ordering and pick whatever just came out of the oven, even if it means choosing a slice that’s €1 more than the basic margherita.
