Whopper in T1 before security

This Burger King sits landside in Bologna’s T1, useful if you’re early or waiting on an arrival and still outside security. It’s one of the few global chains in the public check‑in hall, so expect families and tour groups grabbing food together before splitting up for different flights.

Opening hours track typical BLQ bank times, usually from early morning check‑in waves around 05:00 until late‑evening departures near 22:00, but they can shorten in off‑season. If you land on a 23:00 Ryanair from Spain or a late ITA Airways hop from Rome, have a backup plan in case shutters are already down.

Menu is the standard Burger King lineup: Whopper, Chicken Royale, plant‑based options, fries, onion rings, plus 0.4 L fountain drinks and bottled water. Expect airport pricing: a basic Whopper meal often lands around €9‑€11, and add‑ons like extra cheese or bacon push it higher. Kids’ meals with toys run cheaper and move quickly with families.

Crowds spike in the 06:00–08:30 bank when Ryanair, Wizz Air, and legacy carriers all push departures out of T1. That’s when lines can hit 10–15 minutes just to order, and seats in the shared seating zone in front of the counter disappear fast. If your boarding pass shows a 07:00 departure, order first, phone scroll later.

On the plus side, food comes out predictably fast: Whoppers and fries usually hit your tray in under 5–7 minutes during normal traffic. Customization works fine in Italian or English; just check the receipt on the tray for line items like “formaggio” or “bacon” so you’re not back in line fixing it.

Tip: If you still need to check bags in T1, eat after the drop. Lines at airline desks for carriers like Ryanair can easily eat 20–30 minutes, and you don’t want a burger cooling while you argue about cabin baggage size.
