Gate-side espresso at Puro Gusto before security in T1
Puro Gusto sits landside in Terminal 1 at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport, just before the main security checkpoint. That makes it one of the few spots where you can sit down with family who aren’t flying. It runs typical early-morning-to-late-evening hours that line up with BLQ’s first and last departures, so you can count on a coffee both on the 06:00 outbound and the 22:00 arrival.
The menu leans hard into Italian café basics: espresso, cappuccino, and pastries like cornetti and simple croissants. Expect coffee prices in the €1.50–€3 range, with pastries around €2–€3. You’ll also see simple panini and tramezzini in the €5–€8 range, plus bottled water and soft drinks if you just need something to carry through security to your T1 gate.
Food quality tracks with a standard Italian Autogrill-style bar you’d see at a motorway stop: decent cornetto and a reliable macchiato, less exciting sandwiches that can sit in the case for a while. If you care more about a quick caffeine hit before lining up for scanners than a full sit-down meal, Puro Gusto fits that slot at BLQ T1. Expect to stand at the counter like a local for the cheapest coffee option.
Seating is limited and exposed to the main departures hall, so at 07:00–09:00 peak check-in waves it fills quickly. Turnover is fast, though, and most people finish in under 15 minutes. Card payments are widely accepted, but keep a €2 coin handy in case the contactless terminal is down; that does happen in Italian airports more often than it should.
One practical tip: if your flight leaves from a Schengen gate in T1, budget 20–25 minutes from paying your bill at Puro Gusto to reaching the gate, including security. Drink your coffee at the bar, not at a table, and you’ll be through the line faster.
