Gate-side espresso at Pasticceria Gamberini in T1
Pasticceria Gamberini sits airside in Terminal 1 at Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport, a few minutes’ walk from most BLQ gates. It’s a straight shot after security, so you can see your departure screens from the counter and still grab a last cappuccino before boarding.
This is an offshoot of the historic Bologna pastry shop from Via Ugo Bassi, so standards run higher than the average airport bar. Expect classic Italian coffee at the bar price level for an airport: an espresso usually lands around €1.50–€2, with cappuccino only slightly more. You pay at the till, then slide over to the bar for service, just like in town.
Pastries lean very Italian: cornetti alla crema or cioccolato, small mignon pastries by the piece, and tarts. Most items sit in the €1.50–€3 range. Turnover moves quickly during morning waves around 06:00–09:00, so the counter doesn’t sit full of stale stuff. If you need something more substantial, you’ll usually find simple panini or tramezzini prepped for quick grab-and-go.
Hours typically track the first and last departures, with doors open from early morning to the late-evening Ryanair and Wizz Air banks, though exact times shift with the schedule. If you’re catching a 06:30–07:30 flight from BLQ T1, you can normally count on this being one of the first spots open for real coffee and a pastry instead of vending-machine snacks.
Watch card minimums at peak times; some staff gently nudge cash for very small tickets under about €3. Also, the stand-up bar area fills fast during the 08:00 and late-afternoon departure waves, and seats go first to people with trays of food rather than just a single caffè.
Practical tip: if your gate is in the higher 10s or 20s, order at the bar and drink standing – you’ll be back at the gate in under 5 minutes without stressing boarding queues.
