Fresh tortellini by the gate at T1’s Dispensa Emilia

Dispensa Emilia sits airside in Terminal 1 at Bologna Airport (BLQ), a short walk from most Schengen gates, and leans hard into Emilia-Romagna staples like tortellini and tigelle. You order at the counter, pay, then grab a seat in the open dining area facing the T1 departures hall.

Opening hours typically track the main morning banks, starting around 06:00 and running through the evening departures wave, so you can get a plate of pasta before an 08:30 flight or a quick bite before a 20:00 departure. It’s one of the few places in T1 where you can sit down with hot food instead of just a pre-made sandwich.

Prices sit in airport-middle territory: expect around €8–€11 for a pasta dish, €5–€7 for tigelle with fillings, and €2–€3 for an espresso or macchiato. A basic combo of tortellini, water, and coffee usually lands under €15, which is reasonable for BLQ’s airside options.

Food-wise, lean on the regional hits. Tortellini in brodo or with ragù is the safest bet, and the tagliatelle al ragù usually comes out al dente. Tigelle with cured meats make a decent 15-minute stop if you’re boarding from a nearby gate in T1. Portions are European-normal, not US-huge, so add a side if you’re skipping the next in-flight meal.

Service runs cafeteria-style, and during the 06:30–09:00 and 17:30–19:30 peaks, lines can reach 10–15 minutes. Turnover is quick once you’ve ordered, but don’t bank on a five-minute in-and-out if your boarding pass says “gate closes in 20.”

Tip: if your gate is at the far end of T1, order to go, grab a plastic fork, and eat at the gate seats to avoid the last-minute sprint when boarding starts 30 minutes before departure.
