Caffetteria Lavazza

Gate-side caffeine fix in T1

Caffetteria Lavazza sits airside in Bologna’s T1, an easy grab on the walk to the Schengen gates. It runs standard airport hours, roughly first departures to last flights, so you can count on it for a 6:00–22:00 coffee window most days. Signage is clear once you pass security, with Lavazza branding you can spot from 30–40 meters away.

Pricing is typical for an Italian airport bar: an espresso lands around €1.30–€1.50 at the counter, with cappuccino usually in the €1.80–€2.20 range. Sitting at a table bumps the bill, so if you just want a quick shot before boarding, order and drink at the bar like locals do. Pastries sit in the glass case; budget €1.50–€3 for brioche or small snacks.

Coffee quality tracks with the Lavazza name: consistent, slightly dark roast, pulled fast enough to work on a 20–25 minute connection. Staff handle volume well in the morning rush, so even with a short line of 6–8 people, you’re rarely waiting more than 5 minutes for a plain espresso or macchiato. Milk drinks can slow things down by another couple of minutes during peak times.

The food is standard bar fare: pre-made panini, tramezzini, and packaged snacks. Expect a ham-and-cheese or salami panino in the €4–€6 range, with bottled water and soft drinks around €2–€3. If you’re hungry and pressed for time, grab a cold panino; if you have 30 minutes or more, the terminal has fuller sit-down options beyond the immediate Lavazza area.

Seating is limited, with maybe a dozen chairs and a few small tables clustered by the counter, and those fill quickly from 7:00–9:00. Power outlets are scarce, so don’t plan on a long laptop session here. Tip: pay at the register first and bring the scontrino to the barista; it speeds things up when your boarding time is under 40 minutes away.
