Terminal 3

8 gates 1 airline 5 restaurants 2 lounges 5 shops

Terminal 3 hosts Saudia across 8 gates. It's Saudia's home turf at RUH. You'll find 5 dining options, 2 lounges, 5 shops here.

Most non-Saudia international flights now push through Terminal 3

After the 2023 reshuffle, Terminal 3 at RUH handles British Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Wizz Air, FlyDubai, and dozens more foreign carriers, while Saudia and flyadeal use other terminals. T3 has 8 gates and effectively runs as the main non‑SkyTeam international hub, so if your ticket is international and not on Saudia, double-check, because odds are it says “T3” on the boarding pass.

Old domestic pier, new international role

Terminal 3 used to be a domestic terminal before Terminal 5 opened, then sat in limbo until it was renovated and brought back for foreign airlines in 2023. Some long‑time RUH flyers still treat it like the “old domestic side” and walk toward T5 or T1 on autopilot, so watch the overhead signs carefully once you clear immigration and head for the 8‑gate pier.

Layout and walking connections

T3 links directly to Terminal 1 and Terminal 4 via indoor walkways, so you can walk between the three without re-clearing security if you’re on an airside connection. The walk to T4 from T3 is roughly 5–10 minutes at a normal pace, which is why regulars with a long layover sometimes head over to check Saudia’s food or lounge options before coming back to their T3 gate.

Food: fast and familiar

Post-security, the anchors are McDonald’s and Burger King, each usually running from early morning into the late-night bank of departures, so you can grab a burger and fries even on a 02:00 departure. Starbucks and Pret a Manger give you coffee and sandwiches; Starbucks is the safer bet for consistent espresso, while Pret’s pre-packed sandwiches work when boarding starts in under 20 minutes. Mama Benz Café is the local touch, good for Arabic coffee and a quick pastry between immigration and your gate.

Lounges: Hayyak and the Business Class Lounge

The Hayyak Lounge sits airside in T3 and typically opens ahead of the first international departures, closing after the last late-night waves, with hot dishes, basic showers, and decent Wi‑Fi. The separate Business Class Lounge handles airline-invited premium passengers; check your email or app for “Business Class Lounge – Terminal 3” on the invite instead of assuming it’s a Saudia facility in T4. If you have a long layover and a lounge pass that covers multiple terminals, some regulars walk the 5–10 minutes to compare T4 lounges, then return to T3 in time for boarding.

Shopping between immigration and the gates

Riyadh Duty Free in T3 stocks liquor, perfume, and cosmetics at the usual Gulf pricing, so factor 5–10 minutes there if you want to pick up cigarettes or a last-minute fragrance. Bath & Body Works sits on the same concourse with seasonal promotions on hand soaps and body sprays, often under 30–40 SAR. Virgin Megastore carries headphones, travel adapters, and mid-range gadgets, which is useful if you landed with a dead cable and boarding is in 30 minutes.

Last-minute basics and souvenirs

Relay in Terminal 3 is your standard travel newsstand with bottled water, snacks, and magazines, handy if you want a 500 ml bottle before a long-haul flight where service may take 45–60 minutes to start. A dedicated Souvenir Shop stocks magnets, keychains, and regional gifts under 50–100 SAR, so you can still leave Riyadh with something small even if you skip downtown shopping.

What regulars do and one tip

Frequent RUH flyers now check their terminal the moment tickets hit their inbox, because Saudia international mostly uses Terminal 4 while most non‑Saudia international flights sit in T3. If you arrive at the wrong curb, budget at least 15–20 minutes to shift between terminals by landside transport. One solid move: confirm “Terminal 3” on your airline app the day before departure, then plan to be curbside 2.5–3 hours before an intercontinental flight to clear check-in, immigration, and security without rushing down the 8‑gate pier.
