Five-minute walk from T1: Economy Parking at RGN

Economy Parking sits in the main ground-access lot in front of Yangon International Airport, a short walk from Terminals T1, T2, and T3. It’s an open-air surface lot, so no height issues for vans or SUVs. You enter from the primary airport access road, pass the short-term drop-off area, then follow signs for long-term or “Economy” parking in English and Burmese.

Expect basic security: on-site attendants during airport operating hours and vehicle checks at the main access gate. Lighting runs across the lot with tall poles spaced every 20–30 meters, better near the terminal side than the far edge. There’s no covered parking, so in the hot season your car bakes in 30°C+ heat; use a windshield shade if you’re leaving the car for more than a day.

Pricing runs on a daily budget model rather than hourly premium rates, and it’s cheaper than the short-stay bays right by departures. Payment usually works in cash (MMK) at the exit booth, with some staff accepting small USD bills for totals over about $5; don’t count on cards actually working even if you see a POS terminal. Keep the paper ticket they hand you at the entrance; lose it and you pay a full-day penalty.

Access to the terminals is straightforward: about 3–5 minutes on foot to T1, 5–7 minutes to T2, and under 10 minutes to T3 if you park toward the correct side of the lot. There are curb ramps for luggage trolleys the whole way. If you’re dropping family at T2 or T3, park near the row closest to those terminal signs so you’re not dragging bags across the entire field of cars.

If rain is in the forecast during monsoon season (May–October), some lower spots in the surface lot collect standing water up to several centimeters deep. Park on slightly higher rows nearer the main access road to avoid muddy shoes and suitcase wheels. One last tip: take a quick phone photo of your row and a nearby pole number before you walk off; it saves a 10-minute wander when you land back in Yangon tired at 23:00.
