Long-stay “Overstay Guarantee” parking suits trips over 7 days

Melbourne Airport’s Overstay Guarantee is aimed at long stays, so think week-long holidays or work trips running past 7 days. It’s an airport-backed promise on capped pricing if your trip runs longer than planned, rather than a separate physical car park. You still park in the normal MEL long‑stay options around T1–T4, but quote or book with the Overstay Guarantee product so the cap applies if you overrun.

The scheme only applies to long-stay bookings, not short-term or premium bays near T1, T2, T3, or T4. It’s built for people leaving the car at the airport while flying out of T1 domestic, T2 international, T3 Virgin, or T4 low‑cost carriers, then coming back on an unknown date. If your return flight into T2 or T3 shifts by a day or two, the capped pricing under the Overstay Guarantee kicks in instead of open‑ended daily charges.

Pricing still follows Melbourne Airport’s published long‑stay rates, but the Overstay Guarantee puts a ceiling on what you pay beyond your booked exit time. That ceiling only applies if you’ve booked the specific Overstay Guarantee product online before you arrive. Drive‑up customers using standard long‑stay lots near the T4 side of the precinct don’t get the same protection on extra days.

Because this is a pricing guarantee on long‑stay parking, shuttle timings and walking distances stay the same as your chosen car park’s normal setup. Expect a shuttle from the outer long‑stay area to T1–T4 in roughly 5–10 minutes during core operating hours. If you’re landing late into T2 around midnight, factor in that same shuttle time on the way back to your car as well.

Practical tip: book the Overstay Guarantee online directly with Melbourne Airport before your trip, and keep the confirmation handy so staff can match your number plate or booking if your return date into T1–T4 changes at the last minute.
