Near Gate 1 in T1, Amex lounge access at MDE means Harmony
Instead of a blue-branded Amex club, Platinum and Centurion cards in Medellín unlock the Harmony Lounge near Gate 1 in the domestic terminal T1 under the American Express Select Lounge Agreement. It runs daily from 06:00 to 21:00, so the first wave of Avianca and LATAM departures can all pre-board here without paying the walk-up fee listed on local signage.
Access comes through the Global Lounge Collection, and Amex’s own MDE page is clear: this deal applies only to departing domestic flights. If your boarding pass shows an international route to Panama City or Miami, this lounge won’t scan you in; you’ll be pushed toward spots like The Dream Box on the international side instead.
Stay length is capped: Amex notes a maximum stay of 4 hours, and staff do watch the check-in timestamp on your boarding pass. Regulars on Medellín expat forums time their airport arrival so they’re walking into Harmony about 90 to 120 minutes before boarding, not trying to camp here from 10:00 for an 18:00 flight.
There’s a strict smart casual dress code: flip-flops, shorts, and tank tops are listed as reasons for denial right in the access rules. If you’re connecting from a beach weekend in Santa Marta on a domestic ticket, pack long pants or at least less than the board-shorts-and-sandals combo or you may find the Amex logo on your card doesn’t help at the door.
Families need to read the fine print: the Harmony listing on the Amex site bluntly says children under 12 are not admitted. More than one Platinum holder reports learning that rule from the agent at the podium, not from the app, and then having to kill two hours at a public café near Gate 2 instead.
Food and drink skew simple, not full restaurant: think light cold snacks plus soft drinks and basic alcoholic options, matched to a domestic lounge that closes at 21:00 rather than an overnight hub. The value here is a quieter seat and Wi‑Fi with your Amex, not a multi-course meal you remember next week.
Tip: if your domestic flight from T1 Gate 1–5 leaves before 10:00, arrive around 90 minutes pre‑departure; that keeps you inside the 4‑hour cap and still leaves enough time to grab a quick snack and recharge before boarding starts.
