Domestic flights only in Terminal 2 at Songshan

All Taiwan domestic departures at Taipei Songshan use Terminal 2, with Mandarin Airlines, Uni Air, and some China Airlines flights operating here. The building is compact compared to Terminal 1, so gate walks usually run under 5 minutes once you clear security. Signage splits traffic by airline right away, so check your carrier before you join a check-in queue.

Check-in for Mandarin Airlines and Uni Air opens roughly 2 hours before departure, and most counters close about 30 to 40 minutes before takeoff. Because this is a domestic-only operation, security is usually lighter, but you still want a 60-minute buffer at peak morning and evening bank times. Arrivals feed straight into baggage claim at ground level, with belt numbers clearly marked by flight on overhead boards.

Layout and moving between landside and airside

Terminal 2 has departures on the upper level and arrivals and ground transport on the lower level. Security for domestic flights sits just beyond the main check-in area, and once you pass the checkpoint, the concourse runs in a simple straight line, with gates clustered in short ranges. If you need to move between Terminal 1 and 2, allow roughly 10 minutes on foot following the indoor corridor signs.

Food and coffee inside Terminal 2

Post-security, the main cafeteria-style food court sits near the central gate cluster and usually opens from around 07:00 to 21:00. Stalls here cover quick rice and noodle plates, basic Taiwanese set meals, and simple stir-fries that land in the NT$150–250 range. Lines build just before the morning and evening departure waves, so hitting it 45 minutes before your flight helps avoid a wait.

For something lighter, the Traditional Taiwanese Noodles Shop serves beef noodle soup and dry noodles, with most bowls priced under NT$200. The congee stand nearby is good for early flights, with plain and century egg versions plus small side dishes, and you can usually grab a tray and be done in under 20 minutes. Both spots sit airside, roughly mid-concourse, so you can eat and still see boarding zones forming at nearby gates.

FamilyMart in Terminal 2 runs almost the full domestic schedule, typically from 06:00 until the last departure. It covers onigiri, sandwiches, drinks, and instant noodles, and is the most reliable backup if other kitchens close early. There is also a small grab-and-go bento counter near the security exit, good for NT$100–150 boxed meals when you just need something you can eat on board.

One level up from the main concourse, an Italian Bistro offers simple pasta, pizza, and a few salads, with mains in the NT$250–350 bracket. It works best for slightly longer waits since service can take 20–30 minutes during rush periods. Asian Cuisine, closer to the gates, focuses on quick rice dishes and fried snacks, so if your boarding pass says “final call in 25 minutes,” head there or to FamilyMart instead.

Lounges: quiet spots before short hops

Terminal 2 lists three domestic lounges: Lounge 2, Lounge 4, and Lounge 6, all airside. Exact entry rules vary by airline status and fare class, and many China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines elites end up in Lounge 2. Expect basic soft drinks, coffee machines, and packaged snacks rather than full hot buffets, and plan to grab a proper meal in the food court if you want something more substantial than instant noodles.

Shopping and last-minute buys

The Souvenir Shop and Traditional Snacks Shop in Terminal 2 carry pineapple cakes, local pastries, and gift tins that fit easily in a carry-on. A small Fashion Boutique near the main departures hall sells mid-range clothing and accessories, while the Convenience Store landside handles drinks, phone chargers, and umbrellas. Prices on snacks usually sit within 10–20% of city supermarkets, so you are not paying a huge airport premium.

Ground access and one final tip

The city MRT Songshan Airport Station sits just outside Terminal 2, with trains into central Taipei running roughly every 5–7 minutes in daytime hours. Taxis queue directly in front of the arrivals level, and most downtown rides land in the NT$150–250 range depending on traffic. One tip: eat before you head to the gates on late-night flights, as some Terminal 2 food counters shut around 21:00 even if departures continue after that.
