Across from Gate 3 in Terminal 1, KFC is the safest bet

KFC sits airside in Terminal 1 at Juanda (SUB), handy if your Lion Air or Citilink flight boards nearby and you want something predictable before a short-hop domestic leg. Seating is basic plastic tables, often busy at local mealtimes around 12:00–14:00 and 18:00–20:00, but turnover is fast enough that you rarely wait more than 5–10 minutes for a chair.

Pricing runs cheaper than many airport spots: a two-piece chicken meal with rice and drink usually lands in the IDR 40,000–60,000 range, and single pieces of chicken price closer to IDR 15,000–20,000. Card payments are standard, and most staff handle simple English well enough for “original vs spicy,” “wings vs drumsticks,” and basic drink swaps.

Menu is the usual Indonesian KFC lineup: fried chicken (original and spicy), rice boxes, burgers, fries, and the typical desserts and sides you see across the country. If you want something filling before a 1–2 hour domestic flight, the chicken-and-rice sets hit harder than a burger plus fries. Portions track local branches in Surabaya city, so no shock “airport-size” shrink here.

Service times vary: off-peak you’ll have food in under 5 minutes; at boarding crunch around Gates 1–4 it can stretch to 10–15 minutes, especially when big groups hit at once. The counter usually keeps at least 2–3 tills open, but lines can back up toward the concourse when multiple flights out of Terminal 1 cluster around the same 30-minute window.

Tip: if your boarding pass shows a gate change within Terminal 1, grab your order in takeaway bags and eat near your new gate; it’s less than a 5-minute walk from KFC to the far end of the Terminal 1 domestic concourse.
