Next to the Terminal 1 gates, Hoka Hoka Bento keeps it simple
Hoka Hoka Bento in Terminal 1 sits airside, handy if you’ve already cleared security and don’t want to walk back toward the public food court. It’s a basic Japanese-style fast-food setup: trays, counter ordering, and quick turnover. Expect rice bowls, set menus with chicken or beef, and fried sides that land on your tray within about 5–10 minutes during normal traffic.
Prices run in the mid-range for Surabaya airport: a standard chicken bento with rice, veggies, and a drink usually lands in the IDR 45,000–70,000 band. Add-ons like gyoza or fried tofu push it closer to IDR 80,000 if you’re hungry. Portions skew moderate, not massive, so if you’ve got a long flight out of T1, plan on a main plus at least one side.
The menu leans heavily on teriyaki chicken, fried chicken katsu, and beef yakiniku, all served with white rice and a small salad. If you’re flying out in the early evening, this is one of the more filling options in Terminal 1 compared with just grabbing pastries or instant noodles from the nearby convenience outlets. If you’re picky about sauces, stick with teriyaki or katsu; they tend to be more consistent than the sweeter experimental items that pop up as seasonal specials.
Seating sits right off the main Terminal 1 corridor, so you’re eating with a direct line of sight to nearby departure gates and boarding queues. That makes it easy to keep one eye on the screens and still finish your tray. Turnover is quick enough that even at busy times you usually don’t wait more than a few minutes for a table, and solo travelers can often slip onto a two-top between groups.
One tip: if your boarding pass shows a gate at the far end of T1, order to go and walk down toward your gate before you start eating so you’re not speed-marching with a full stomach when final call hits.
