250 MKD gets you from SKP to Skopje in under 40 minutes

The Airport Bus runs a fixed coach service between Skopje International Airport (Terminal T) and the city center for about 250 Macedonian denars one way, with a typical journey time of 30–40 minutes. It’s aimed at people happy to plan around a timetable instead of paying 1,200–1,500 MKD for a taxi.

The bus stops directly outside the arrivals area at SKP, a short 2–3 minute walk from the baggage claim exit in Terminal T. In town, the main stop is near the Transport Center (central bus and train station), with some departures also calling at the Holiday Inn stop by the Vardar river, both signed as “Airport Bus” on local boards.

Most schedules line up with flight banks, with departures typically within 30–60 minutes of larger arrivals, and first/last services roughly matching the earliest and latest flights on the SKP board. Because times shift with seasonal timetables, check the current schedule the day before you travel rather than assuming the last bus runs past midnight.

Tickets usually sell on board for around 250 MKD cash, with return options offered at a small discount of about 400–450 MKD when available. Have small bills or coins ready; reports mention drivers not always able to break 2,000 MKD notes, especially on late-night or early-morning trips.

The vehicles are full-size coaches with luggage bays underneath, so standard 23 kg checked bags and 8–10 kg cabin suitcases are fine. Boarding with bags takes a few minutes at each stop, so count on the full 40 minutes rather than the optimistic 30 if you’re heading to SKP for a flight out of Terminal T.

Compared to city buses that can take 45–60 minutes with multiple stops and a change, the Airport Bus runs mostly direct between SKP and the Transport Center. If you land after the final bus, though, you’re looking at a taxi from outside arrivals, where official cabs queue with fixed SKP–center prices posted around 1,200–1,500 MKD.

Practical tip: Aim to catch an Airport Bus that reaches SKP at least 2 hours before departure; for a 09:00 flight out of Terminal T, target a coach that leaves the Transport Center no later than around 06:30.
