Terminal 2 hosts 4 airlines. You'll find 20 dining options, 7 lounges, 18 shops here.
Opened in 2021, Terminal 2 is now SKG’s main hub
Terminal 2 handles most Aegean, Ryanair, Olympic Air, and Wizz Air flights, so odds are your boarding pass says “T2.” The building connects with the older Terminal 1, but departures for these four carriers usually go from the newer side. Arrivals and departures share the same modern complex, with clear bilingual signage and short walking distances between security and the gates.
Layout: arrivals downstairs, departures and gates upstairs
Check-in desks sit on the departures level of Terminal 2, with security funnels leading to Schengen and non-Schengen zones. Walking from security to the furthest gate in T2 generally takes under 10 minutes at a normal pace. The ground floor handles arrivals and baggage claim, with car rental counters lined up near the exit doors and taxi stands a short walk outside.
Security and timing
For Aegean or Olympic Air domestic flights from Terminal 2, plan to hit security about 60 minutes before departure during normal daytime hours. Early-morning Ryanair and Wizz Air departures can create lines; give yourself 90 minutes at 06:00–08:00. Security for Schengen flights in T2 usually runs faster than for the non-Schengen queues, where extra passport control checks can add another 10–15 minutes.
Sit-down food: Goody’s, La Pasteria, IL Barretto
Past security in Terminal 2 you’ll see Goody’s Burger House, La Pasteria, and IL Barretto among the main options. Goody’s handles burgers and fries at mid-range prices for Greece, with mains typically around EUR 8–10. La Pasteria leans into pasta and pizza plates, again mostly under EUR 12. IL Barretto focuses more on panini and light bites, manageable when you have only 30–40 minutes before boarding.
Quick bites: Gregorys, Everest, Terkenlis, Crepaland
For a fast coffee-and-pie stop in Terminal 2, Gregorys and Everest both serve Greek coffee, sandwiches, and pastries, each with items starting around EUR 3. Terkenlis is the spot for tsoureki and sweets you can take on board or home; expect boxes of pastries in the EUR 6–10 range. Crepaland does exactly what the name says: sweet and savory crepes made to order, handy if your gate is called and you still want to eat in 10 minutes.
Cafes: Mikel, Flocafe Espresso Room
Mikel Coffee Company and Flocafe Espresso Room both sit airside in Terminal 2, pulling espresso shots and freddo cappuccinos from early morning. A basic espresso usually runs around EUR 2, with iced drinks closer to EUR 3–4. Seating often fills at peak waves around 07:00–09:00 and again before late-night departures after 21:00, so grab a table before ordering if you plan to sit.
Lounges: multiple handlers plus Aegean Business Lounge
Terminal 2 packs in several contract lounges: Prima Vista Lounge, Skyserv Lounge, Goldair Handling Lounge, Swissport Lounge, and The Lounge Thessaloniki itself. The Aegean Business Lounge in T2 serves Aegean and Star Alliance premium passengers and status holders, typically opening a couple of hours before the first Aegean departure. Most contract lounges in T2 cluster airside, with access sold at the desk and prices usually in the EUR 25–35 range for a 3-hour stay.
Shopping: duty free and Greek gifts
Right after security in Terminal 2 you pass Hellenic Duty Free Shops, stocked with Greek spirits like ouzo and tsipouro plus standard perfumes and cosmetics. For local products, Greek Ideas and Akron both carry food gifts and souvenirs, while Attica Accessories and Yamamay cover accessories and underwear. Relay, Kiosky’s, and Travel Store round out newsstand, travel gear, and last-minute items, handy if you forgot a charger or adapter before a late-night departure.
One practical tip
Allow an extra 10 minutes in Terminal 2 if you plan to buy food or gifts after security, because Hellenic Duty Free and the cafes are right on the main path and tend to slow you down more than you expect.
