Parqueo Económico

Economy parking

Daily rates here undercut the main T1 lot by a margin

Parqueo Económico is the budget option at El Salvador International Airport (SAL), serving Terminal T1 with lower daily rates than the main terminal-front parking. It is an outdoor economy lot geared to longer stays, so think multi-day or week-long trips rather than quick pickups. You’ll pay noticeably less per 24 hours compared with the closer premium areas, trading some walking distance for savings.

This economy parking feeds the single passenger terminal, T1, so every airline and gate uses the same curb. From the far end of Parqueo Económico, plan around 8–12 minutes to walk to the terminal entrance, depending on luggage. If you like extra margin, build 20 minutes into your timing from gate return to finding your car, especially if landing at night or with kids in tow.

Payment at Parqueo Económico runs on a ticket system tied to your entry timestamp, billed on exit in US dollars, which are standard at SAL. Keep the ticket dry and accessible; losing it usually triggers a full-day or multi-day fee, which wipes out the whole “económico” angle fast. Short stays of under 1 hour often cost less than a full day, but economy pricing really starts to pay off after 24 hours.

Security presence covers Parqueo Económico with regular patrols and fixed cameras, but it remains an open-air lot exposed to El Salvador’s heat and afternoon sun. Avoid leaving electronics visible, and park under the limited shade rows first if you’re leaving the car for more than 48 hours. For arrivals after 21:00, pull up your row and section on your phone so you’re not wandering the lot in the dark.

Practical tip: snap a photo of the nearest row marker or sign the moment you park in Parqueo Económico; it makes the late-night return from T1’s baggage claim much quicker.
