Short-stay spots sit right in front of T1 at SAL
Parking Principal is the main short-stay lot directly in front of Terminal T1 at El Salvador International Airport Saint Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez (SAL). You walk from your car to the check-in area in just a few minutes, with no shuttle or extra transfer time to factor in.
This is a surface lot, not a garage, so you park at ground level and roll your bags straight toward T1. It’s set up for quick visits: pick-ups, drop-offs, and same-day trips of a few hours. If you’re parking longer than a day or two, the cost will add up faster than in the long-term options farther from the terminal.
Payment runs on a standard ticket system at the entrance barrier, with fees calculated by the hour for short stays. Rates are higher than off-airport lots near the CA-2 highway, but you trade that for being directly across from the terminal doors. Pay stations sit close to the pedestrian exit toward T1, so you can pay before walking back to your car.
Lighting covers the rows facing the terminal, and airport security patrols include Parking Principal as part of the main forecourt area around T1. There’s no reserved section for oversized vehicles, so anything significantly larger than a standard car or SUV can be awkward to place in tighter rows during peak flight banks.
Plan your timing around morning and evening departure waves: Parking Principal tends to fill quickest in the 04:00–07:00 and 17:00–20:00 windows. One simple move: drop passengers and bags at the T1 curb first, then circle back and park here so you only walk back solo with carry-ons.
