Line 59

Bus

Bus 15 min

15 minutes from the terminals to Nádraží Veleslavín

Line 59 runs every day between Václav Havel Airport Prague (T1/T2) and metro station Nádraží Veleslavín on line A. The ride takes about 15 minutes in normal traffic, and buses stop directly in front of the arrivals halls at both T1 and T2. Look for the yellow PID bus stops marked with “59” outside the terminal doors.

The bus runs roughly every 6–8 minutes during daytime and every 10–20 minutes later in the evening, with service starting around 4:15 and running past 23:30. It’s a regular city bus, not an express coach, so you use standard Prague public transport tickets. Validated tickets cover both the bus and the metro at Nádraží Veleslavín within their time limit, usually 30 or 90 minutes.

A 30-minute ticket costs 30 CZK, and a 90-minute ticket costs 40 CZK as of 2024. You can buy tickets from the yellow PID machines in the baggage claim area of T1 and T2, at the stops outside, or via contactless payment directly on board some buses. Remember to stamp paper tickets in the validator inside the bus at the first ride; contactless validators log the time automatically.

Line 59 drops you at Nádraží Veleslavín in zone P, where you connect to metro line A toward stations like Malostranská, Staroměstská, and Můstek. The transfer is easy: follow the underpass from the bus stop to the metro entrance, about a 2–3 minute walk. One ticket covers both the 15-minute bus ride and the metro leg as long as you stay within the ticket’s time window.

With luggage, most people use the front or middle doors and stand near the multi-purpose area, which is marked with a stroller and wheelchair symbol. The buses on Line 59 are low-floor and can handle roll-aboards and backpacks without issues, though there is no dedicated suitcase rack. During the morning and late-afternoon peaks, expect some crowding, especially on workdays.

Practical tip: buy a 90-minute ticket (40 CZK) if you plan to reach central Prague spots like Staroměstská or Muzeum; it gives you enough time to ride Line 59 plus the full metro segment without watching the clock.
