Bus

Bus AE runs every 15–30 minutes between PRG and downtown

Airport Express AE is the blue-and-white bus that runs from Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) to Praha hlavní nádraží (main train station) in about 35 minutes off-peak. It stops at both T1 and T2 on the arrivals level, so you don’t have to change terminals. The line number “AE” is printed on the bus front and sides, and the driver sells tickets on board.

A single AE ticket costs roughly 100 CZK per adult as of 2024, and you can pay in cash (CZK) or by card directly to the driver. This ticket covers only the AE bus, not the regular PID trams or metro, so you’ll buy a separate 30-minute or 90-minute PID ticket at Praha hlavní nádraží if you plan to continue by metro C from Hlavní nádraží station. Kids under a certain age pay a reduced fare, usually around half price, in line with Prague public transport rules.

First departure from the main station is typically around 05:30, and the last bus from the airport usually leaves just after 22:00, depending on the current timetable. Buses run roughly every 15–30 minutes during the day, with slightly longer gaps later in the evening. The ride time can jump to 45–50 minutes during the 16:00–18:00 traffic peak as the bus crosses the city toward Prague 1.

At the airport, the AE stop at T1 sits near exit D on the arrivals side, and the T2 stop is signed the same way, marked “Airport Express” on yellow PID boards. At Praha hlavní nádraží, the stop is on Wilsonova street, just outside the main hall, one level above the metro C “Hlavní nádraží” platform. Luggage goes onto the rack area right behind the driver or into the open standing space in the low-floor section.

Tickets bought from the AE driver only activate for that AE ride, so don’t mix them up with your 40 CZK metro/tram tickets bought from station machines. If you want a quick airport–center hop and don’t feel like handling 119 or 100 regular bus plus metro, AE keeps it simple: one vehicle, one ticket, straight to the main station clock tower. Plan to arrive at the stop 5–10 minutes early; buses can fill fast when multiple flights land together.
