United flyers on UA J report being welcomed here alongside the NZ lounge and, at times, the Cathay Pacific lounge, giving three lounge doors off a single boarding pass.
Food skews Asian: expect things like fried rice or noodles alongside basics such as soup, salad, and small desserts during the 12:30-18:00 and 20:35-23:00 banks. The self-serve drinks station usually runs soft drinks, beer, and Australian wines, with spirits on a side counter; all included for eligible guests, with no separate day-pass price listed.
Seating is split into dining tables near the buffet and softer armchairs further inside, with power outlets dotted between chairs rather than at every seat. During the 06:15-08:45 and 12:30-18:00 windows it can fill near the food, but even then regulars say it feels calmer than the larger Air New Zealand room down the hall.
Many *A flyers at MEL lounge-hop: they’ll grab a shower and a more Western-leaning plate at the Air New Zealand lounge first, then walk a few minutes back to SilverKris for a quieter last hour and an Asian hot dish before a Singapore or United departure. With four daily opening blocks, it’s easy to pair this with another lounge on a 3–4 hour layover.
Practical tip: aim to reach security in T2 about 60 minutes before the SilverKris opening window you’re targeting; that way you’re not stuck in the general concourse during the 05:30-06:15 or 18:00-20:35 closures.
