Aspire Lounge

T2 Open · Monday – Sunday: 07:00 – 00:45 showers

Etihad and other non-home carriers often push passengers here.

This Aspire Lounge sits airside in T2 at Melbourne Airport and runs daily from 07:00 to 00:45, so it covers most long-haul departure banks. It’s a contract lounge with pay-as-you-go access, mainly filling the gaps for airlines that don’t have their own space in MEL.

Access is pay-per-visit, and pricing depends on how you book your day pass, but expect a fixed fee at the door rather than per-drink charges. You clear immigration and security for T2 first, then follow signs to the lounges level; factor in at least 20–25 minutes from landside check-in to walking through the lounge door.

The food setup usually runs on a basic buffet cycle aligned to flight waves, with breakfast options early in the day and hot dishes later before the late-night departures around 23:00–00:30. Treat it as something to take the edge off hunger, not a full restaurant replacement. Coffee, tea, soft drinks and standard alcohol are included within the entry fee.

Power outlets are the main reason regulars use this place, and you’ll find a decent number of universal sockets and USB ports dotted around the seating zones. Wi‑Fi is complimentary and generally fast enough for streaming or a video call, though it can slow in the evening when multiple widebody departures cluster around the 22:00 wave.

Seating fills noticeably before big flights to the Middle East and Asia, especially when Etihad, Qatar and others have departures within the same 60–90 minute window. If your flight leaves after midnight, arrive closer to 22:30 than 00:00 if you want a seat with power rather than a random stool.

Most frequent flyers with status still head to airline-branded lounges in T2 when they can, using Aspire mainly as a backup when contracts or operating hours don’t line up. Treat this lounge the same way: if you have access elsewhere in MEL T2, compare closing times, because Aspire’s 00:45 shutdown is sometimes the last option.

Practical tip: if you’re on a long-haul out of MEL T2 and plan to buy a day pass, eat something in the public food court first, then use Aspire mainly for Wi‑Fi, drinks and a power-equipped seat for the final 60–90 minutes before boarding.
