Librería Nacional

Gate-side books at Librería Nacional in T1

Just past security in Terminal T1, Librería Nacional is the airport’s main bookshop, handy if you want something better than inflight Wi‑Fi for a 3–5 hour leg. It sits airside in the departures area, so you don’t need to exit to street level or re-clear security.

Most of the stock is in Spanish, with shelves of Colombian authors and Latin American fiction starting around COP 35,000 for paperbacks. You’ll also see kids’ titles, travel guides for Medellín and Bogotá, plus some basic stationery like pens and notebooks under COP 10,000. English-language titles exist, but expect a smaller shelf rather than a full wall.

Hours usually track peak departures, roughly from early morning bank (around 5:00) through late-night international flights after 22:00. This makes it one of the few T1 shops you can count on if you land early from Bogotá or connect to a red-eye to the US, Panama, or Europe.

Stock leans on bestsellers and mainstream genres: thrillers, romance, self-help, and Spanish-language business books, with hardbacks often above COP 70,000. Don’t expect niche technical titles or deep English sections; this is more last-minute reading than a research bookstore.

Cards are accepted, and prices ring up in COP, so foreign cards see the usual bank conversion. One simple tip: if English options look thin, grab a magazine or puzzle book section near the counter as backup before you walk to your gate in T1.
