Attenza Duty Free

Gate-side duty free option in T1: Attenza Duty Free

Attenza Duty Free sits airside in Terminal T1 at Medellín’s José María Córdova International Airport, after security and passport control. You’ll pass it on the way to many international gates, so it’s easy to duck in during boarding calls rather than backtracking from a distant shop landside. Expect the usual duty free mix focused on liquor, perfume, cosmetics, and chocolates geared to outbound international passengers.

Pricing follows standard Latin American duty free patterns: imported spirits and fragrances can run cheaper than downtown Medellín, especially on larger 1L bottles, but basic snacks and souvenirs sometimes cost more than in local city shops. Stock leans toward global brands, so if you’re chasing a specific Colombian rum or aguardiente label, compare options here with what you’ve seen in town. The shop’s footprint in T1 is mid-sized, so selection is broad enough for most last-minute gifts, but not supermarket-level.

Attenza Duty Free generally opens in sync with international departures from T1, which at MDE start early in the morning and run into late evening, roughly from around 4:00–5:00 a.m. through 10:00–11:00 p.m. on busy days. Staff usually switch price tags between USD and COP, and many airlines out of MDE, including Avianca and low-cost carriers operating from T1, allow standard duty free alcohol and perfume purchases within cabin baggage limits.

Plan 10–15 minutes here before boarding if you want to compare perfume or whisky prices instead of grabbing the first display. Keep your passport and boarding pass in hand at the register; Attenza staff at T1 normally ask for both before ringing up duty free items for international flights.
