Parqueadero Público Descubierto

Outdoor parking

Daily rates here usually undercut the covered lots at MDE

Parqueadero Público Descubierto sits outside Terminal T1 at José María Córdova International Airport and runs as an open-air, outdoor lot. It’s the basic option: no roof, no frills, typically lower prices than the covered garages right by the terminal. Look for signs marked “Parqueadero Público Descubierto” on the airport access road to avoid pulling into the private or hotel car parks by mistake.

This lot works well for stays of a full day or more, since the per-day rate is where the savings usually show compared with premium covered parking near T1. You pay on-site in Colombian pesos at the official cashier area before you exit, and the ticket readers at the barrier check your time in and out to the minute. Keep your paper ticket dry; it’s your proof of entry and the cashier needs the barcode to process payment.

Walking time from the outdoor spaces to Terminal T1 usually runs about 5–10 minutes, depending on which row you park in and how much luggage you’re hauling. There’s no dedicated shuttle loop for this specific lot, so you’re on foot the whole way from the car to the check-in counters. At night, aim for rows closer to the main access lane where the overhead lights run brightest and you’re nearer to foot traffic headed toward the terminal doors.

There’s no covered protection from the Rionegro rain or sun here, so factor in that your car sits fully exposed for the length of your trip. That means wet luggage if a storm hits while you’re unloading near your space, and a hot interior when you return in the afternoon. One practical move: toss a basic windshield sunshade in the car and snap a quick phone photo of your row number before you roll your bags toward T1.
