₹1500 walk-in fee makes this more snack stop than office

Travel Club Lounge in T1 domestic at Chennai sits upstairs after security, on the right side, with a lift up and a Priority Pass logo on the door. Most locals walk in on Indian credit or debit cards with bundled lounge access, and almost nobody recommends paying the posted ~₹1500 if you can avoid it.

Hours usually track domestic bank timings, roughly early-morning first departures through late-night rotations, and it’s all airside in Terminal 1 so you clear CISF security first. Figure 2–3 minutes from the central security exit to the lounge door if you head straight up, so it works on a 45–60 minute buffer before boarding.

Food sits at basic buffet level: a few hot dishes, snacks, and tea/coffee rather than anything premium, with reviewers calling it “acceptable” for a quick plate before a 90-minute hop. Vegan options exist but are thin; staff will usually point out 2–3 safe items and that’s about it, so don’t bank on a full plant-based meal.

Drinks run to standard soft drinks, tea, coffee and a small bar, not a long cocktail list, and self-serve fridges tend to hold 3–4 cold options at most. If you want something specific, ask early; once a bottle or dish empties close to a bank’s 6–8 pm rush, refills can lag.

The big catch: there is no restroom inside the lounge, a detail several first-timers miss. You have to exit back into the T1 concourse, use the public toilets 20–30 meters away, then re-enter, which is annoying if you’re guarding a laptop or juggling kids.

Space runs small for the number of Priority Pass and cardholders T1 pushes through, and reviews mention it feels cramped around evening metro-bank departures from 6–9 pm. Seats are mostly basic armchairs and dining chairs, with 2–3 power outlets often shared between multiple travelers, so charge in the terminal if your battery is under 40%.

Regulars treat this as a “ticket to snacks and Wi‑Fi” rather than a full pre-flight office: get in on your card, grab one plate, a drink, check the departure board, then move to the gate about 30 minutes before boarding. Tip: hit the terminal restroom and fill your water bottle downstairs before you ride the lift up, so you don’t waste time exiting and re-entering once you’ve found a seat.
