T2’s lounge scene at MAA is messy right now

FlyerTalk threads on MAA’s new T2 from 2023–2024 talk about Plaza Premium and construction, but regulars openly say they “are not aware of any contract lounges there,” which makes a clearly branded TajSATS Lounge in T2 look doubtful at best. If your airline or card promises lounge access in Terminal 2, treat “TajSATS Lounge” as a label in a system, not as proof of a door with that name actually open near your gate.

Terminal 2 at Chennai (MAA) handles international flights and uses codes T1, T2, and T4 across the airport, and most recent reports focus on a temporary Plaza Premium setup with limited capacity. None of the usual review sites, maps, or trip reports from late 2023 or 2024 show photos, menus, or a confirmed location for a TajSATS-branded space post-security in T2, which is unusual for any lounge that serves more than a handful of passengers each day.

TajSATS is a major aviation caterer in India and runs branded lounges in other airports, often as contract lounges for multiple airlines, but at MAA the only hard data points in T2 discussions revolve around “no contract lounge” comments and airlines handing out generic meal vouchers. That mismatch between printed benefits and on-the-ground reports means your Priority Pass, LoungeKey, or business-class ticket might route you to a generic contract facility, a partner lounge, or even just a restaurant credit instead of a dedicated TajSATS Lounge space.

If an agent at check-in in T2 writes “TajSATS Lounge” on a paper invite, ask them to mark the exact location with a gate number or level, because T2 signage at Chennai can still lag behind the actual lounge openings. If they cannot name a floor, wing, or nearby gate in T2, assume access might end up being a voucher for a cafe or a seat in a shared contract area, rather than a stand-alone TajSATS room with buffet counters and showers.

Until someone posts fresh, photo-backed proof of this lounge at MAA T2, plan as if you may have to sit at the general seating near your departure gate for an evening departure or grab food at one of the public outlets in T2. Practical tip: build a 15–20 minute buffer before boarding to sort out lounge versus voucher options at the airline desk, so you are not arguing about “TajSATS Lounge” benefits at the gate when your flight to, say, SIN or DXB is already boarding.
