T2’s “Executive Lounge” usually means the temporary Plaza Premium setup

In Chennai’s Terminal 2, most agents and signs point to a single lounge space sometimes labeled “Executive Lounge,” but regulars on FlyerTalk only talk about the makeshift Plaza Premium lounge in T2. If an app or card shows “Executive Lounge – T2,” assume it lines up with this same post-security lounge on the international side, not a separate, more upscale room.

This space sits airside in T2 after immigration and security, so you need an international boarding pass to reach it. Access often appears as pay-per-use through cards or lounge programs, and walk-up pricing at similar Plaza Premium setups in India usually lands around ₹2,000–₹3,000 per person for a 2–3 hour stay. If you see staff scanning Priority Pass, DragonPass, or card-network vouchers at the T2 lounge door, that is almost certainly the “Executive” your app lists.

Hours tend to track T2’s long-haul schedule, with most reviews referencing late-night and early-morning access that lines up with Chennai’s midnight bank of departures. Expect it to be open through the 22:00–03:00 peak, but quieter in the mid-day lull when there are fewer international flights leaving T2. For a 01:30 departure from MAA, plan to reach the lounge by around 23:30 to get at least 45–60 minutes of use before boarding calls start.

Food at comparable Plaza Premium lounges in India usually means a small hot buffet with 3–5 dishes: one rice, one dal, a dry veg, sometimes a chicken curry, plus bread, biscuits, and tea/coffee machines. Drinks are often limited to soft drinks, basic juice, and machine coffee rather than a full bar. Don’t expect restaurant-level dosas or filter coffee like in the T1 landside cafés; this is more “quick plate between flights” than a full meal replacement.

Because this “Executive Lounge” is effectively the only lounge option discussed for T2, seating can tighten when multiple international flights depart within a 60–90 minute window. If your boarding pass shows a gate on the far end of T2, aim to leave the lounge about 25 minutes before boarding time to walk, use the restrooms near your gate, and avoid a last-minute crowd at security re-checks.
