easyJet’s own lounge in Gatwick South feels like a blank slate

The Gateway Lounge sits in Gatwick South Terminal, airside after security, and carries easyJet branding with access tied to easyJet and partner passengers. It opened recently enough that FlyerTalk, Reddit and most lounge blogs barely mention it, so expectations aren’t set the way they are for older Gatwick lounges like No1 and Clubrooms.

You enter from the main South Terminal departures area after security, so there’s no landside access and no terminal-hopping from North. Check-in staff verify your easyJet or partner boarding pass before letting you in, and standard lounge timing applies: you’re generally looking at access from around three hours before your scheduled departure rather than an all‑day hangout.

Food setup at The Gateway is self‑service buffet rather than full restaurant service, more in line with other UK contract lounges than an airline flagship. Pricing is usually baked into your access fee or membership, so you’re not paying dish‑by‑dish like in the public terminal food court where a sit‑down meal can easily hit £15–£20. Expect the usual lounge mix of hot items at peak times and simpler snacks off‑peak, not a made‑to‑order menu.

Drinks run on the standard UK lounge model too: soft drinks, basic spirits, house wine and beer included, with anything premium typically extra. That makes The Gateway a different call versus grabbing a £6–£7 pint at the terminal bar. Coffee is from machines rather than a barista bar, but it’s at least unlimited and faster than queueing at the main South Terminal chains during the 06:00–09:00 rush.

Because the space is so new, there’s almost no pattern yet on how crowded it gets compared with older South Terminal lounges that often sell day passes on heavy easyJet bank waves around 07:00 and early evening. Cleaning routines and wear‑and‑tear also haven’t had time to slide, which helps when you’re trying to work on a laptop for 60–90 minutes before boarding starts around T‑40.

One practical tip: factor in Gatwick South security, which can easily chew 20–30 minutes at busy times, then aim to leave The Gateway about 25 minutes before boarding if you’re at the far end of the easyJet pier; some gates can be a 10‑minute walk from the lounge.
