London Gatwick Airport, South Terminal, airside after security, Level 1, between WHSmith and Sunglasses Boutique

Opposite No1 Lounge on the South Terminal mezzanine, Aspire is the slightly smaller option regulars try first when No1 has a visible queue snaking out the door.

Located airside in Gatwick South, the Aspire Lounge (often labelled Club Aspire) sits directly across the mezzanine from No1, so you can walk from one entrance to the other in under a minute before you commit to a line. It’s post‑security, above the main departures area, so you’re already through checks before you head up.

Priority Pass and paid entry both work here, but reviews from 2023–2024 say the lounge often goes “at capacity” during morning transatlantic banks and school holidays, with staff turning away walk‑up Priority Pass and pay‑on‑the‑door guests. If you’re set on using a lounge membership, build in at least 10–15 minutes extra in case you have to bounce between here and No1.

Food and drink are standard Aspire fare: hot items like sausages, scrambled eggs and beans at breakfast, then simple pasta, soup and finger food later in the day, plus self‑serve soft drinks and basic spirits. Think more “keep you fed before a 2–3 hour flight” than a full restaurant replacement, and budget to grab something in the terminal if you’re picky or on a longer haul.

Space is tighter than No1, which is why FlyerTalk users describe Aspire as “quite small” and “often a little less busy but still rammed at peaks.” Seating is mostly armchairs and small tables; if you need a plug, aim for the edges of the room where power outlets are more common, and expect to move if you spot a better‑placed seat once things thin out.

Regular Gatwick flyers treat Aspire and No1 as a pair: if the No1 queue looks ugly, they walk straight across the mezzanine to ask Aspire about capacity, especially on weekday mornings between roughly 06:00 and 09:00. During bank‑holiday and school‑holiday waves, they assume both lounges may be closed to walk‑ups and adjust plans early.

Watch out for hard capacity shut‑offs that ignore your membership card; once the lounge hits its fire‑code limit, staff simply stop letting people in, including Priority Pass, DragonPass and paid walk‑ins. Practical tip: check both lounges before you sit down, and if Aspire is already quoting a wait, grab food in the main terminal first and treat any lounge time as a bonus, not a guarantee.
