4–8 public EV chargers sit right next to the terminal

Leipzig/Halle Airport’s EV charging stations sit directly next to the Zentralterminal, so you roll off the main access road and plug in within a couple of minutes of arriving. These are standard public airport chargers, used by short-stay and drop-off drivers who want a top-up while handling check-in or pick-ups.

The EV chargers sit on the terminal-side of the main parking area, closer to the Zentralterminal than to Terminal B, which cuts the walk to check-in down to a few minutes on foot. Signage on the approach road to LEJ points you toward the dedicated EV parking rows, so watch for the green charging icons as you pass the regular P areas.

Pricing runs on the same basic model as other German public chargers: energy billed per kWh, plus any idle fees after a grace period if you stay plugged in once the battery is full. Charge session details and current tariffs show on the charger screen at start, so take 30 seconds to confirm the rate before you tap your card or start the app session.

The chargers support standard European plugs (Type 2 and CCS), which covers most EVs you’ll see on the A14 and A9 corridors around Leipzig. Power output varies between posts, with some stalls running slower AC and others offering faster DC, so check the kW rating on the sticker before choosing a spot if you’re in a rush.

These EV spots sit in a marked section of the next-to-terminal parking, so you park in a normal bay but only while actively charging. Airport security and local police do patrols through this lot, which helps keep long-term squatters off the charging bays and usually frees a stall again within a couple of hours.

Tip: Screenshot your charging app or membership QR code before you drive into LEJ, so if mobile signal drops near the Zentralterminal you can still start the session at the post.
