Il Maestro

Restaurant

T1

Gate-side at T1, Il Maestro sits in the main departures hall

About a 2–3 minute walk from the central security area in Terminal 1, Il Maestro is one of the few sit-down options at KGS. It runs on typical Greek island hours: open from early morning check-in waves through the last departures in the late evening. Seating is basic café tables facing the main concourse, so you keep an eye on screens while you eat.

Menu is straightforward: espresso from around €3, soft drinks about €3–4, beers in the €5–6 range, and simple hot dishes like pasta or grilled items usually under €15. Expect standard airport pricing for Kos rather than town taverna deals. Food leans more “quick plate before boarding” than long lunch; it works if you want an actual meal instead of just a pastry from the smaller kiosks nearby.

Service pace matches island airport flow: fine for a 60–90 minute wait, not great if boarding starts in 20 minutes. Ask when you sit down which dishes are quickest out of the kitchen; they often push sandwiches or toasties if your flight time is tight. If you want a full hot dish, order as soon as you find a table, then sort bags and boarding passes while you wait.

Practical tip: grab a printed receipt in euros from Il Maestro before you leave; it makes any post-trip expense claims or card checks much easier than hunting through mixed airport transactions from T1.
