T1 $$$$ Post-security

Gate-side in T1, Il Maestro is JTR’s sit-down Italian option

Il Maestro sits post-security in Terminal 1 at Santorini (JTR), one of the few full-service restaurants after screening. It runs on a mid-range $$ price tier, so plan on around €12–€18 for mains and a bit less for starters. Seating is standard tables rather than bar-style, which helps if you’ve got a laptop bag and a carry-on to park for an hour.

The menu leans Italian: think pizzas, pastas, and simple salads instead of gyros. Portions are decent by airport standards; one pizza or pasta dish usually covers one hungry adult. Expect quick-fire kitchen timing, often 15–25 minutes from order to mains, which works for a normal check-in plus security buffer but not a tight 30-minute dash to boarding.

For food, the safer plays are basic pasta dishes and margherita-style pizzas in the €10–€16 range. Sauces skew mild, so add salt, pepper, or extra olive oil yourself. If you’re catching an early Aegean or Sky Express departure, the lighter options (like a salad plus shared pizza) keep you from feeling weighed down on a short hop to Athens. Desserts tend to be pre-made cakes rather than fresh pastry, so manage expectations there.

Drinks run the usual airport mix: espresso-based coffee, soft drinks, bottled water, and a short list of beers and wines. Expect coffee around €3–€4 and wine by the glass in the €5–€7 band. Service pace varies with the peak Santorini bank of flights, especially late afternoon, so allow extra time if you’re departing between 16:00 and 20:00.

Final tip: ask for the bill as soon as your main course lands if your boarding time is inside 45 minutes; payment can be the slowest part once a couple of flights start boarding at nearby T1 gates.
