Tickets start around 25–40 SAR depending on the route

SAPTCO runs intercity coaches from King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) to major Saudi cities, with ticket prices on typical routes like Jeddah–Makkah or Jeddah–Madinah starting in the 25–40 SAR range. Buses use the airport’s ground transportation area outside Terminal 1, so you do not need to enter the terminal or clear security to board.

Services usually run daily with multiple departures per route, often every 30–60 minutes on busy corridors such as Jeddah–Makkah, and less frequently on longer runs like Jeddah–Riyadh. Coaches are standard long-distance buses with around 40–50 seats, air-conditioning, and luggage bays under the cabin, which helps if you’re coming off a widebody flight with 2 checked bags.

Tickets can be bought on SAPTCO’s website or app with a Saudi card or major international card, or in person at the airport sales desk when staffed during daytime and early evening hours. For late-night arrivals after 23:00, it’s safer to prebook online because some counters in Terminal 1 and Hajj Terminal shut by midnight or earlier.

The main draw is predictable pricing compared with airport taxis that often start around 80–100 SAR just to get into central Jeddah. On high-demand days linked to Umrah or Hajj movements through the Hajj Terminal, SAPTCO usually adds extra coaches but seats can still run short, so locking in a specific departure time 12–24 hours ahead helps.

With SAPTCO, luggage limits are typically 2 checked pieces plus a small cabin bag, similar to economy airline rules, and oversize bags like large Zamzam cartons may be refused or charged extra. Coaches stop at fixed points in each city, such as central bus stations or designated SAPTCO stops, so you’ll likely still need a short 10–20 SAR taxi or ride-hail hop from the drop-off to your hotel or apartment.

Final tip: before you leave the arrivals hall at Terminal 1 or the Hajj Terminal, withdraw cash from an ATM for backup, then confirm the stand number and departure bay for your SAPTCO route with staff so you don’t waste time walking between platforms with two suitcases in the heat.
