Arrivals-side Egypt Air Duty Free sits right by the carousels
This is Terminal 1’s main duty-free shop, a roughly 450 sq m Egypt Air Duty Free outlet in the baggage hall after passport control. You hit it before you even reach the first luggage carousel, so it’s the obvious spot to grab alcohol, cigarettes, perfume, or a last-minute gift before exiting Hurghada International Airport. The store opens whenever flights are landing, so late-night arrivals still see it lit up.
On the shelves: standard international spirits, cartons of cigarettes and shisha tobacco, mid-range perfume brands, cosmetics, some jewelry, small electronics, and the usual magnets and keychains. Departures has another Egypt Air Duty Free in the clean-zone of Terminal 1, but the arrivals shop is the one most people remember because it’s right in front of them after immigration. If you skip both, local rules reportedly give you up to 48 hours to buy at a duty-free shop in Hurghada city.
Regulars say city shops often beat airport prices, especially on simple souvenirs and some alcohol brands. Tripadvisor posts mention airport magnets and keychains costing noticeably more than in town, and cigarettes and tobacco sometimes having no price label at all. That missing pricing also shows up on certain spirits, which makes it hard to compare on the fly.
What people actually do: use Egypt Air Duty Free as a convenience stop, not a hunting ground for deals. They grab one or two duty-free cartons or a bottle right after landing, then do bigger shopping runs in Hurghada itself once they’ve checked in. Tip: if you care about value, photograph prices in a city supermarket or souvenir shop, then only buy here on departure from Terminal 1 when the difference is small.
