Duty Free Shop

1

Alcohol, cigarettes, and perfume dominate the Duty Free in T1

In Terminal 1’s departure area, the Duty Free Shop sits in the clean-zone waiting area after security, right on the walk to the boarding gates. It stocks the standard airport mix: liquor, cigarettes, tobacco, big-brand perfumes, cosmetics, some jewelry, electronics, and souvenir trinkets. This is the generic outlet for T1, not a specialist boutique, so expect Jäger, Absolut, Marlboro, Nescafé gift tins, and pyramid keychains rather than niche labels.

Hours aren’t clearly published, but flyers report it open for early-morning and late-evening departures from Terminal 1, lining both sides of the corridor just past security. Prices are in hard currency, and several travelers note that city shops in Hurghada often undercut the airport on common products like chocolate, perfume, and basic souvenirs. If you’ve already walked past the last café toward your gate, you’re basically at the entrance.

Regulars treat this place as a last-chance stop for duty-free alcohol and tobacco, not a general gift shop. One Tripadvisor thread mentioned cigarette and alcohol shelves with price tags removed, so ask for the total before you commit to a carton or bottle. Simple magnets and small gifts were described as “significantly more expensive” than in Hurghada city, sometimes by several euros per item.

Hurghada’s duty-free network also includes an arrivals branch near baggage claim, separate from this Terminal 1 departures shop, and some visitors mix the two up when comparing prices. Local advice: if you care about value, price your perfume, chocolate, or souvenirs in town first, then use this Duty Free mainly for tobacco or spirits. One tip: take a quick phone photo of any shelf labels you do see so you can challenge a higher total at the till.
