1,000-yen reservations lock in a covered spot at P2

P2 Parking sits at Haneda T1 and gives you a large covered structure instead of an outdoor lot, with 2,315 spaces tied into the airport’s P1–P5 system. It’s signed as “P2” for Terminal 1 short-stay, so you can drive straight in without crossing terminals or taking a shuttle.

Haneda sells advance reservations here for a 1,000-yen fee on top of normal parking charges, and the system treats P2 as indoor, not outdoor reservation parking. That matters on hot summer days or in bad weather, when an open-air surface lot is a pain and you’d rather load luggage under a roof.

FlyerTalk regulars point out that terminal parking reservations at HND are fully refundable up to eight days before your parking date, so frequent users often book early, then cancel if their flight or plans move. That eight-day window lets you block a P2 space long before busy Golden Week or Obon runs up the “full” signs across P1–P5.

Haneda’s own notices warn that the P1–P5 complex, including P2, can hit multi-hour waits during peak holidays and busy weekends, with queues just to get into the structures. A reservation at P2 helps, but it doesn’t magic away congestion at the entrance ramps when the whole airport is jammed.

Watch out for: Haneda explicitly says crowded periods can mean several hours of waiting for P1–P5 access, so don’t assume P2 is immune just because it’s reserved and covered. Build at least a 60–90 minute buffer on top of your usual T1 check-in time if you’re parking here on peak travel days.

Tip: If your T1 trip overlaps a Japanese holiday, make the 1,000-yen P2 reservation as soon as your flights firm up, then set a calendar reminder eight days out so you can cancel for free if you end up taking the train instead.
