It’s part of the airport’s multi-story complex serving domestic flights, and Haneda lists P1 specifically as the Terminal 1 lot with 2,351 spaces, so this is the tight, pay-more-for-location choice if you’re flying JAL or other T1 carriers.
Short-stay here works best for same-day or 1–2 day domestic trips out of T1, since P1 is priced as premium terminal-side parking rather than long-term economy. Haneda’s official site groups P1 with P2–P5 for basic fee tables, so you pay the standard airport structure rates per 30 minutes up to a daily cap, not a special discount scale. Payment is at automated machines in yen, with major cards accepted at the exits; keep your ticket dry so the machines can read it on exit.
Online reservations: P1 is the odd one out. Haneda’s parking page clearly lists a ¥1,000 reservation fee for P2, P3, and P4, but P1 does not appear in that reservation set, which strongly suggests you can’t pre-book a space here. If your trip overlaps Golden Week, Obon, New Year, or busy weekends, assume walk-up only and have a backup plan in P2–P5 or off-airport if the live occupancy boards look bad.
The biggest operational headache is congestion: Haneda itself warns that during crowded P1–P5 periods, drivers can wait “several hours” just to enter, and the airport flat-out says this can cause people to miss the security cutoff for their flight. That applies to P1 too, since it shares the same approach roads and entry-control system with the other structures, so arrival timing matters more here than at many airports.
Tip: On peak travel days, aim to reach the P1 entrance at least 3 hours before a domestic departure and check Haneda’s parking congestion info page on your phone before you commit to the P1 queue; if it already flags long waits for P1–P5, divert straight to rail or taxi instead of gambling on a “several-hour” line.
