The Qantas Hong Kong Lounge

T1 · Near Gate 5 Open · 07:30 - 23:00 showers

Qantas has this HKG lounge near Gate 5, but it’s quiet.

The Qantas Hong Kong Lounge sits in T1 by Gate 5 and runs daily from 07:30 to 23:00. It’s officially tied to Qantas (QF) and STARLUX (JX), but with Qantas traffic reduced in Hong Kong, it flies under the radar compared with Cathay’s big lounges in the same terminal.

Access is tied to Qantas Airways and STARLUX Airlines passengers, so check your same-day QF or JX boarding pass before budgeting time for a visit. If you’re on another oneworld carrier out of T1, staff are usually strict and won’t bend the rules, even during lighter evening banks after 21:00.

Location-wise, being near Gate 5 helps if you’re on an early Qantas or STARLUX departure parked on the low-number gates. For flights leaving closer to Gates 30–60, you’re looking at roughly a 10–15 minute walk plus people-mover time, so factor that in and don’t cut it close to boarding.

The lounge typically matches the broader Qantas format: a proper staffed bar, a hot buffet with at least 2–3 rotating mains, and a self-serve coffee station. Expect Australian touches in the drinks list and usually one or two Asian dishes alongside more standard Western options, which fits better for a proper sit-down meal than grabbing a HK$60 snack in the public area.

Seating skews toward business-travel style: individual armchairs, dining tables and some bar seating, often set up near large windows toward the T1 apron. Power outlets run along many of the wall seats, so you can charge a laptop and phone in the same spot instead of hunting separate sockets in the terminal holding areas near Gate 5 or 6.

Because it hasn’t been central to HKG lounge talk, you won’t find the intense crowds you see at peak times in Cathay’s The Wing by Gate 2. That can translate to easier showers, shorter bar queues, and a better shot at snagging a quiet corner about 60–90 minutes before departure, especially outside the early evening departure bank.

Tip: If your flight departs from a high-number gate (30+), cap your lounge visit at about 45 minutes before boarding time and start walking; HKG looks compact on the map, but that last stretch to the midfield gates eats more time than you expect.
