Cathay Pacific Lounge - The Pier (Business Class)

T1 · Near Gate 65 Open · 05:30 - 00:30 showers

Nine-hour layovers feel shortest near Gate 65 in T1.

The Pier Business sits below the main concourse near Gate 65 in Terminal 1, open daily from 05:30 to 00:30. If your Cathay Pacific or Fiji Airways flight leaves from the mid-60s gates, this is the lounge that actually lines up with your walk time, so you’re not sprinting back from The Wing at the last minute.

This is Cathay’s big business lounge play at HKG, with multiple zones spread along the pier instead of one big hall. Regulars treat it as “home base” for long connections of six to nine hours, rotating between the main dining room, the bar, and the quieter end corridors instead of hopping between The Deck and The Wing.

The noodle bar is the anchor: fresh dan dan mian, wonton noodles, and dim sum are cooked to order, and portions are sized so you can try two dishes without regretting it. The hot buffet changes through the day but usually covers basic rice, a stir‑fry, soup, and a Western carb so you can build a real meal before a CX long‑haul. Coffee is better from the staffed bar than the self‑serve machines.

Showers are a strong point here, with 14 shower suites lined up off a quiet corridor. Even during evening departure banks around 19:00–22:00, reviewers report shorter queues than at The Wing, so this is the place to grab a rinse before a redeye. Towels, large bottles of amenities, and decent water pressure make it feel closer to a hotel bathroom than an airport stall.

At the far end, past the main seating, you’ll find the resting pods: semi‑enclosed chaise lounges with a side table and dim lighting. They’re not fully private, and light sleepers complain about foot traffic, but they still beat trying to nap in upright chairs at Gate 65. Veteran CX flyers head here first if they’ve got more than three hours to kill.

Crowding hits hardest right before banks of long‑haul departures to Europe and North America, typically after 18:00. The trick is to skip the first seating areas after reception and walk another 3–4 minutes deeper into the lounge, where it thins out and power outlets are easier to claim.

Practical tip: If you just need food and a shower before a CX or FJ flight, check your gate; if it’s in the mid‑60s or 70s, go straight to The Pier Business instead of backtracking to The Wing and adding an extra 10–15 minutes of walking later.
