Emirates Lounge

T1 · Near Gate 40 Open · 17:40 - 23:35 showers

EK premium flyers at HKG often sneak off to Cathay

Near Gate 40 in T1, the Emirates Lounge runs on a tight 17:40–23:35 schedule that mirrors the evening bank of EK departures. If you’re checked in on Emirates and flying premium cabins or with eligible status, this is your dedicated option on the non‑oneworld side of the concourse.

The entrance sits just a short walk from the Gate 40 cluster, so you can leave the lounge as late as boarding minus 10 minutes for most Emirates flights. It’s fully airside in Terminal 1, so you clear security and immigration first, then follow the airline lounge signs near the mid‑40s gates.

Food runs on a proper hot buffet timed to the 23:35 Dubai departure, usually staying stocked through the last boarding calls. Expect a mix of standard Emirates outstation dishes rather than Hong Kong‑only specials, with most reports calling it solid but not destination‑worthy in a terminal that also holds Cathay Pacific’s flagship lounges.

Drinks follow the usual Emirates lounge template, with self‑serve spirits, wine and beer set out on counters rather than ordered from a bar. Don’t come expecting Krug or anything rare; think dependable labels that match what’s poured in many other EK outstation lounges worldwide.

Seating runs along windows that look toward the T1 apron near the Gate 40 pier, so you’ll likely see your own Emirates aircraft parked within a couple of stands. Power outlets are scattered between armchairs, better than the older parts of T1 but not at the density of Cathay’s newest spaces.

Showers are available inside the lounge and make the most sense if you arrive into HKG on a mid‑day connection and depart on the late‑evening EK run around 23:35. Ask staff on arrival for a shower slot if the Dubai flight is full, as queues can form close to boarding time.

If you hold oneworld status alongside an Emirates premium ticket, many frequent flyers still walk over to Cathay’s lounges in T1 for deeper food options, then head back to Gate 40 about 20 minutes before boarding. The practical move here: use Cathay for a main meal, then stop by the Emirates Lounge closer to 23:00 for a shower, a last drink, and a short walk to your gate.
