Cabana waitlists here can hit an hour after 20:00
The Wing First Class in T1 sits just after Departures South near gates 1–4, and the location shows. It opens at 05:30 and runs until the last Cathay Pacific departure, so it’s prime real estate for early-morning and late-night banks when the main concourse is packed.
Access is for Cathay Pacific first class and oneworld Emerald passengers, and the draw is the cabanas: oversized private rooms with a bathtub, daybed, and shower. There are only a handful, which is why evening rush periods around the long-haul departures see sign-up sheets fill quickly and waits run long.
Regulars hit the cabana desk within five minutes of entering; if they hear about a long list, they often switch strategy and walk down to The Pier First in T1 for a quieter stay. Attendants sometimes steer people to the shared shower facilities on The Wing Business side when the cabanas are fully booked, especially around the CX252/CX256 Europe bank.
The main seating area runs along the mezzanine edge above the concourse, which looks great over gates 1–4 but lets terminal noise drift up. Compared with The Pier First’s more enclosed layout near gate 63, this space feels busier and less private, especially between about 07:00–09:00 and 22:00–00:00.
Food splits between a small à la carte dining room and a buffet closer to the entrance. Champagne and spirits pour from the long bar that overlooks Departures South, and staff keep glasses topped up quickly during the pre‑flight crunch before North America and Europe flights. If you want a full plated meal before CX882 or CX840, sit down early; the dining room can back up.
Watch out for noise and crowding near the bar closest to security when several wide-bodies leave within 90 minutes of each other. If you just need a shower at 18:00–23:00, asking to use the business side’s showers can cut your wait from 45 minutes to closer to 10–15.
Practical tip: on arrival into T1, check The Wing First cabana list first; if your name lands more than three or four deep, take the train down the pier and settle into The Pier First instead.
