Handicraft Emporium

Gate-side handicrafts stop in T1

Just past security in Terminal 1, Handicraft Emporium is the main spot in GOI for last‑minute Goan souvenirs before you board. It sits airside, so you can shop after clearing security and stay close to domestic gates. Think small gifts you can toss straight into a cabin bag rather than checked luggage.

Expect shelves of wooden carvings, printed fabrics, small metal decor pieces and basic trinkets, all branded to Goa or India. Pricing runs from around ₹150–₹300 for keychains and magnets up to ₹1,000+ for larger decorative pieces and textiles. It skews touristy, but it does the job if you’ve run out of time in Panaji or along the beach.

The shop usually trades through the main flight banks out of T1, roughly from early morning departures around 05:00 until the late‑evening wave close to 22:00. Stock is more picked over late at night, especially under-₹300 gift items and lighter textiles, so earlier flights see better choices.

Payment is straightforward: cards and Indian rupees both work, and smaller items under ₹500 are easy add‑ons if you’re using up remaining cash. Larger decorative objects can be awkward in overhead bins on A320/B737 cabins, so keep size in mind.

Tip: If your boarding pass shows a T1 gate change, shop first, then sit near your new gate rather than doubling back to Handicraft Emporium later.
