Red-eye arrivals landing in GMP International usually clear taxis fastest
The Taxi Stand International Terminal sits outside arrivals at Gimpo International Airport’s International Terminal, a short 2–3 minute walk straight out of the customs exit. It runs 24 hours, which matters if your flight lands after the AREX and Line 5 headways stretch to 15–20 minutes or you miss the last direct bus to your district.
Metered standard taxis use a base fare around ₩4,800 in Seoul, with late-night surcharges typically kicking in after 22:00 and running until about 04:00. From the International Terminal stand, rides to western Seoul neighborhoods like Yeomchang or Gayang often hit ₩12,000–₩18,000, while outer districts can creep past ₩30,000 depending on traffic and time of night.
If you’re hauling two or more checked bags, the curbside taxis outside the International arrivals hall save you a terminal transfer; you don’t need to walk to the Domestic side or down to the AREX platforms on B1. The stand lines up cars in rows, and even during late-night banks around 23:00–01:00, wait times usually stay under 10–15 minutes when several flights land together.
Drivers at Gimpo often expect cash, but a normal Seoul city taxi at this stand accepts T-money and major cards about 90% of the time. Have at least ₩50,000 in cash if you’re heading beyond 20 km, like to Goyang or Bucheon, where fares push into the mid-₩20,000s and toll sections can add a few thousand won.
Give the driver a printed address in Korean for non-central districts like Gangseo-gu, Yangcheon-gu, or outlying Gyeonggi areas, since many taxi GPS units search more reliably by Korean building numbers. If you’re sharing, remember standard taxis legally seat four passengers; a fifth person means flagging a jumbo taxi, which shows a higher starting fare on the roof sign and meter.
Watch the meter from the second it switches from waiting to the starting fare, which should match the posted base on the rear passenger window sticker in won. If you see a flat quote like “₩50,000” for a short hop under 10 km, step back to the main line and take the next metered cab instead.
One tip: screenshot your hotel or apartment map with the blue location pin while you’re still on the free airport Wi‑Fi, then hand your phone to the driver at the stand so they can match it in their sat-nav before you pull away.
