Bus

Checked bags and a hotel in western Seoul? Look at bus 6008.

Airport Limousine Bus 6008 runs from Gimpo International Airport to neighborhoods in western and northern Seoul, so it lines up well with hotels in places like Yeomchang-dong and Seongsan-dong. The route stops at both the International and Domestic terminals, and you board from clearly marked limousine bus stops outside arrivals. If your hotel is on the line of stops, this avoids one or two transfers on Lines 5 or 9 with a suitcase.

A standard adult fare on the 6008 usually sits in the mid-₩10,000s range, paid by T-money card, credit card on board, or cash in Korean won. Tickets are pay-on-boarding; you don’t need to buy at a counter in the terminal. Children's fares run lower than adult pricing, and you tap in on the front door with your card. Keep a 1,000–5,000 won bill as backup, since drivers sometimes reject large notes.

Service frequency is roughly every 20–30 minutes in typical daytime hours, but the first and last buses matter most if you land early or late. Many airport limousine routes start around 05:00–06:00 and wind down near 22:30–23:00, so a 00:30 arrival at GMP likely misses the 6008. Factor in 20–30 minutes from landing to curb for immigration and bags at the International terminal.

Stops are announced in Korean and English, and the LED display in the bus shows stop names using Latin letters as well as Hangul. Expect overhead racks and a luggage area near the door large enough for full-size checked suitcases, plus standard 2+2 coach seating. Ride time into western Seoul neighborhoods can run 40–70 minutes depending on traffic on routes like Olympic-daero and local streets near your stop.

Compared with Line 9 or Line 5 trains from Gimpo, the 6008 usually costs a few thousand won more but drops you closer to many hotels. You walk from the curb to reception in 1–5 minutes at some properties on the corridor, instead of hauling a 23 kg suitcase up stairs or through underground transfers. If your hotel is more than a 10-minute walk from any 6008 stop, the subway plus a short taxi might be quicker overall.

Practical tip: Before you fly, screenshot the Korean and English name of your hotel and its nearest 6008 stop, then show it to the driver when you board so they confirm where you should get off.
