2,850 won gets you from Gimpo to Yeouido on Line 5

Seoul Subway Line 5 runs directly from Gimpo International Airport Station to Yeouido, Gwanghwamun, and eastern Seoul without a line change. The station sits under the terminal complex between the International and Domestic terminals; follow signs for lines 5 and 9, then the purple 5. Trains typically run from around 05:30 to just after 23:50, with peak headways down to about 4–5 minutes and off-peak closer to 7–9 minutes.

From the airport, Yeouido is about 25 minutes away, Gongdeok around 20 minutes, and Gwanghwamun around 40 minutes if you stay on Line 5. A standard T-money tap-in from Gimpo to central Seoul usually runs about 2,850 won, depending on your exact stop. Ticket machines right outside the gates take cash and cards, and you can buy a T-money card at nearby convenience stores like CU or 7-Eleven for a few thousand won plus load.

International Terminal arrivals can walk to Gimpo International Airport Station in roughly 5–8 minutes via the underground passage, and Domestic is similar if you follow the clearly marked metro icons. Look specifically for signs showing the purple circle with a “5” so you don’t accidentally enter the AREX or Line 9 platforms. Elevators and escalators are available at multiple points, which helps if you’re hauling a 23 kg checked bag.

Morning and evening rush hours in Seoul hit hard from roughly 07:30–09:00 and 18:00–20:00 on weekdays, especially between Gimpo and Yeouido on Line 5. If you can shift your ride by 30 minutes outside those windows, you’ll avoid the worst sardine sections between Yeouido and Yeongdeungpo-gu Office. For late-night flights landing after 23:30, double-check the last train time posted on the platform screens before tapping in so you don’t get stranded mid-line.

Seats are limited around office nodes like Yeouido Station and Gwanghwamun Station, so expect to stand for at least 10–15 minutes if you board at those points during peak times. Keep big suitcases out of the door area; use the car ends or fold-up seat spaces that are clearly marked. Trains have LED route maps showing every stop from Gimpo Int’l Airport (김포공항) toward Macheon or Sangil-dong, so you can count exactly how many stops remain.

Tip: If you’re landing at Gimpo before 07:00 or after 21:00, Line 5 usually beats taxis on both price and predictability for Yeouido and Gwanghwamun; just load at least 5,000 won on your T-money card so you’re covered for the ride plus one transfer if plans change.
