₩4,500 coach link for Gimpo–Incheon without touching the subway

The Intercity Bus Gimpo–Incheon is the slow, cheap, low-effort way to move between Gimpo International (GMP) and Incheon Airport (ICN) if you dislike trains or hauling bags through transfers. A one-way ticket runs about ₩4,500–₩7,500 depending on the specific route and terminal, compared with roughly ₩9,500 for AREX Express. Coaches run every 15–30 minutes during the day, so you can usually just walk up and buy a seat.

At Gimpo International, buses depart from the ground-level bus area outside the International Terminal arrivals floor, near the city bus bays signed in both Korean and English. Look for airport coach routes specifically marked for Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 or Terminal 2; most signs list both 영어 (English) and terminal numbers clearly. You stay landside the whole time, so you can use this even on a domestic–international connection as long as you clear baggage and customs first.

Travel time between Gimpo and Incheon runs about 40–70 minutes depending on traffic on the Incheon International Airport Expressway, compared with about 35–45 minutes on the all-stop AREX train. Buses generally start around 05:00 and run until roughly 23:00–24:00, but the first and last departure times vary by route and day, so check same-day schedules before you bank on a midnight coach.

Tickets sell at staffed counters or machines next to the bus bays at Gimpo, with most machines supporting basic English menus and both card and cash. Keep the paper ticket handy; some drivers check it twice, once at the door and again after departure. Seating is usually first-come, first-served within the bus, with standard 2–2 coach seats and overhead racks for small bags, while larger checked bags go in the underfloor compartment at boarding.

On board, expect simple coach comfort: air-conditioning, individual seats, and no toilets on most runs, with driving styles that can feel firm on the expressway at 80–100 km/h. Wi‑Fi is hit or miss by bus operator, so download anything you need before you leave the terminal. If you tend to get carsick, sit near the front and keep a bottle of water from a Gimpo convenience store, where 500 ml usually runs about ₩1,500.

Build the buffer: for a domestic arrival into Gimpo heading to an international long-haul out of Incheon, budget 2.5–3 hours total for bags, coach ride, and ICN check-in, and then pad it by another 30 minutes in rush hour (roughly 07:00–09:00 and 17:00–20:00). If your ICN check-in counter closes 60 minutes before departure, aim to leave Gimpo at least 2 hours before that cutoff.

One tip: at Gimpo, verify “Terminal 1” or “Terminal 2” on the front bus display and printed signboards before you board; fixing a wrong-terminal mistake at Incheon adds 15–25 minutes and another ₩1,000–₩1,500 shuttle ride.
