900‑won rides into southwest Seoul on City Bus 6712

City Bus 6712 runs between Gimpo International Airport (GMP) and southwestern Seoul neighborhoods like Hwagok-dong and Sinjeong-dong, so it suits anyone staying away from subway lines 5 and 9. The standard Seoul bus fare is around 1,500 KRW with a T-money card, but if you start inside the integrated fare zone from GMP and transfer, the extra cost often feels closer to a 900–1,200 KRW top-up. It’s a regular green city bus, not an airport limousine, and it mixes airport users with local commuters.

The bus stops at both the International and Domestic terminals, with signage showing 6712 on the stop pole in English and Korean. Buses typically run every 10–20 minutes in daytime, tapering toward 20–25 minutes late at night, and the ride into inner Gangseo-gu can take 25–40 minutes depending on traffic on roads like Olympic-daero. You tap in with T-money or a compatible card at the front door and tap out at the rear door, or pay cash around 1,500–1,600 KRW to the driver.

From the International Terminal, follow the “Bus/City Bus” signs down one level from Arrivals, then look for route 6712 on the overhead board; from the Domestic Terminal it’s the same pattern, down from the 1F Arrivals hall to the curbside bus zone. The stop numbers are printed on blue Seoul bus plates, and 6712 usually lines up with other green buses serving Gangseo-gu and Yangcheon-gu. First departures are generally a bit after 5:00 a.m., and last buses approach midnight, but always check the exact timetable on the Seoul bus app the day you travel.

Seats are standard forward-facing city-bus seats, with maybe 20–25 seats total and standing room filling fast during 7:30–9:00 a.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. rush. There’s no underfloor luggage hold, so a 23 kg suitcase ends up in the aisle or on your lap; anything larger than a 26–28 inch checked bag gets awkward once more than 10–15 people are on board. Air conditioning and heating run seasonally, and there’s no onboard toilet, just a stop button and the usual next-stop screen in Korean with some English stop names.

Use 6712 if your hotel or Airbnb sits along its corridor and you want to avoid a subway transfer at stations like Gimpo Airport or Gayang on Line 9. If you’re landing after 11:00 p.m. or carrying more than one checked bag per person, a taxi from the official rank on 1F at either terminal may be worth the 20,000–30,000 KRW fare instead. One tip: load or top up your T-money card inside the terminal convenience stores or at the subway station machines before heading to the curb, so you’re not the person paying cash while a full 6712 waits behind you.
