Covered parking

Pay more, park right at T1 in Estacionamento Principal

Covered spaces sit directly in front of Terminal 1 at Pinto Martins International Airport (FOR), so you roll off the main access road and follow signs straight into Estacionamento Principal. This is airport-operated parking on terminal property, with better lighting and on-site security compared with the cheaper neighborhood or hotel lots scattered along Av. Senador Carlos Jereissati.

This is a fully covered structure, useful in Fortaleza’s heat and sudden rain, and it’s the closest formal parking to T1 check-in. Walking time from most spaces to the terminal entrance is roughly 2–5 minutes at normal pace, since you cross just one internal road and head straight to the doors. For early morning departures, the lot runs 24/7 in sync with the terminal, so late-night arrivals and 04:00–06:00 flights are covered.

Rates run higher than off-airport options; local forum posts mention paying a clear premium compared with independent lots a few kilometers down the BR-116 approach. You pay on exit at the automated machines near the pedestrian exits or at staffed booths, and the system charges by hour with a capped daily rate, even though the exact current daily price isn’t consistently published online. Keep your ticket dry and flat, because the barcode scanners at FOR can be finicky with bent or damp tickets.

Watch out for limited space at peak holiday times in July and around Christmas and New Year, when Fortaleza sees heavy domestic traffic and locals leave cars for several days. If you’re parking for a week or more, the cost difference against an off-site lot a 5–10 minute shuttle ride away adds up quickly. Tip: for trips longer than three days, compare the airport’s projected total with at least one neighborhood lot before you commit to Estacionamento Principal.
